Appreciative Pedagogy: Envisioning Change, Inspiring Student Learning Workshop at Sanjan Nagar School

On Friday, November 13, 2015 a beneficial and relevant three hour workshop, 'Appreciative Pedagogy: Envisioning Change, Inspiring Student Learning', was held at Sanjan Nagar School, Hima Campus – An IB International School

Baela Raza Jamil, Managing Trustee SNPET and Zakia Sarwar , Hon. Executive Director SPELT were the key organizers of the workshop. The resource person was Sherry Blok, Prof. Concordia University, Canada. From Sanjan Nagar Campus the principal Raheela Akram and Language Resource Person, Aamir Yousaf along with staff organized the logistics and arrangements of the workshop.

Twenty eight participants from Sanjan Nagar School, Beaconhouse Newlands, ITA, PAIS and Aagahi Education System attended the workshop.

Objectives of the workshop were:

  • Become aware of the concept of Appreciative Inquiry (AI)
  •  Discover how AI can be used to optimize student learning and engagement
  •  Explore strategies to implement in their own classes
  •  Apply the framework to feedback and assessment

The workshop ended with certificate distribution followed by tea and music performance by the school choir. Workshop participants left feeling inspired, positive and compelled to implement the principles of appreciative pedagogy into their own learning communities. Ma’am Zakia Sarwar and Sherry Blok appreciated the Sanjan Nagar School administration for a well organized workshop.
