Sanjan Nagar Students Visit Gaza Memorial Installation, Take Part in Reflective Activities at Olomopolo

Lahore – Thursday, May 14, 2026

Students of Grade 6 visited the “Rose” installation, a memorial made of thousands of hand-stitched fabric roses at Olomopolo. Each rose represents a child killed in Gaza, with the child’s name and age attached.

The installation was conceptualized by humanist and philanthropist Nuria Rafique-Iqbal through her social enterprises Labour & Love and Bargain Basement Sale. It transforms discarded materials into roses as a tribute to resilience, empathy, and collective remembrance. All contributions raised go to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and the Bioniks Welfare Foundation to provide prosthetic limbs for child amputees.

During the session, students watched a documentary and took part in sketching, painting, flower coloring, and letter writing. They also visited a room displaying glass cases filled with cloth roses illuminated by LED lights, and learned how to make fabric roses themselves.

The activities were designed to encourage reflection on dignity, empathy, and humanitarian solidarity.
